The house that made modernism liveable. Charles and Ray Eames built themselves a steel-and-glass pavilion from an off-the-shelf catalogue - and made it warm. This is the Eames House as an architect sees it: the two long low boxes set end to end against the retaining wall, the exposed steel frame filled with its grid of panels and glass. A precise 120mm x 120mm architectural model, designed by a practising architect and hand-finished in our St Albans studio. In soft matte white the delicate steel skeleton reads as pure structure and rhythm. The 120mm base carries the meadow terrace and slope to scale.
