£105.00

Our seasonal sale ends soon

Description

Our Utility knives are our perfect for intricate board work, herbs and fish filleting. Each one is handmade in our Sheffield workshop and features our award-winning Equipoise™ weighted handle.

Each of our utility knives are made by us, by hand in our Sheffield workshop. Blade steel: Japanese AUS-10

Blade length: 6inch/~152mm

Total length: 10.5inch/270mm

Every knife comes gift wrapped in brown paper and string.

THE WORKSHOP

All of our knives - and pretty much everything else we sell - are handmade in our Sheffield workshop by our craftspeople Mike and Caroline.

The workshop sits at 47 Mowbray Street on the banks of the River Don overlooking Kelham Island. This area was once home to some of the best knife makers in the World and is currently undergoing a really exciting renaissance.

It’s also - side note - home to two of the best sandwich shops anywhere in the country: The Crusty Cob and Full Stop. Both offer filled rolls the size of hubcaps which once eaten are not soon forgotten (or digested).

By opening the workshop, building the team and bringing as much of our supply chain as possible to Sheffield we’re hoping to play a role in Sheffield’s resurgence as a manufacturing hub. Most notably - once our current supply of Japanese steel is exhausted - we hope to replace it with an even better, Sheffield-made alternative.

Achieving this will take time and a bit more growth; but as usual the team have a plan so watch this space.

Sourcing & Materials

Sustainable sourcing

We are committed to quality products that are manufactured ethically and sustainably. All of our pieces are traceable throughout the supply chain. We strive to ensure our products contribute to the well-being of people and planet, and our efforts put us on track towards a brighter future.

Ethical labor

Our founders Christina Smith and Clement Savant founded Broadcast to break the norms of the jewelry industry. Cheap, disposable jewelry creates an incentive structure to bid out the work to the cheapest factory available. We need to vote with our dollars for a more equitable world.

Transparent values

We hold true to to who we are. We believe in equality and justice for all, and those beliefs permeate the work that we do and the jewelry we make. Everything we do stands for our values and we try to think, speak, and act in a framework of positive change. Cast out your voice and make a difference.

Recycled Materials

We partner with high quality jewellers who only use recycled gold, AAA-grade gemstones, and ethically sourced diamonds.
