HAY Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant, Medium was £599

George Nelson designed the Bubble Lamp series in 1952, inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish hanging lamps. The Saucer is the most architectural of the collection — a wide, flattened disc that diffuses light softly across its entire surface, creating an ambient glow rather than a directed beam. HAY produces it in collaboration with the Nelson estate, keeping the original intention intact.

The webbing polymer shell gives it a warm, slightly translucent quality when lit. It floats overhead on a 183cm cord with a steel ceiling plate, and works particularly well over a dining table or in a room that needs a considered centrepiece.
